The rose-pink stone actually takes its name from Rhodon, the Greek word for Rose. It was first discovered in the 1790s in the remote Ural Mountains that ripple across Russia. Since then the pink colored crystal has also been unearthed in India, Mexico, Sweden, Madagascar, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Canada, and the USA. Made up of manganese inosilicate and with swirling shadows of manganese oxide, it measures between a 5 and a 6 on the Mohs hardness scale. It’s a solid stone with a visible eye-catching strength – the Rhodonite isn’t one to shy away.
